The Class 153 is a class of single car diesel multiple unit originally introduced by British Rail in the earl 1990s and still operated on the UK rail network today. Class 153's are made up of converted Class 155 two car diesel multiple units: these Class 155 units were split and a new cab built at the inside end of each Class 155 driving car, previously where the luggage racks had been situated. Intended for service on rural branch lines, they replaced 1st generation Class 121 and 122 units which by this time, were approaching 40 years old. 

Class 153's have had reached all four corners of the UK during their working life, both in their BR and privatisation guises. Heljan have designed this new-tooling model from the ground up with experience gained from their O Gauge 153 project. It will feature a full lighting package including directional, cab and interior lighting - which will illuminate a full detailed/decorated interior - and illuminated destination blinds. The Orange bodyside door lock indicator lights will illuminate (as per Bachmann Class 158) and it what we think is a first for OO, the door open/close buttons are described as being lit too!

All models will feature magnetic BSI auto-couplers within NEM pockets and detachable snowploughs. The model contains a 21 pin decoder interface and a factory fitted speaker is fitted to all models - and speaking of which, both DCC Ready and DCC Factory Sound Fitted models are being produced. Here at Derails we have pretty simple postage policy: if your order is over £20, you are eligible for FREE UK 'Regular' 2-4 day shipping. If your order is under £20, you are eligible for our super-cheap £2.99 Regular 2-4 day shipping. 

What if I need this item really quickly?

At the checkout choose one of our shipping option upgrades, either 'Express' Tracked 24 at £1.99 or 'Special Delivery' Next Day at £4.99. The upgraded postage options also jump the long despatch queue too, so they are shipped at the earliest possible opportunity. Please note that 'Express' and 'Special' upgrades are not available for orders with a total value under £20.
